Steering Group & Community Involvement
Shaping our work together
As we develop our work in land, food and coastal regeneration, it’s essential that our direction is shaped by the people and communities it is designed to support. Our Steering Group brings together a range of lived experiences, perspectives, and community voices to help guide the development of our projects.
This ensures that our work remains grounded, relevant, and accountable.
Our commitment to inclusion
As a not‑for‑profit organisation, we are committed to involving people who are often excluded from land‑based, coastal and environmental work. This includes disabled people, carers, neurodivergent people, veterans, young people not in education or employment, and those experiencing poverty or limited access to nature.
We value lived experience as much as technical knowledge. Everyone has something meaningful to contribute.

How Decisions Are Made
The Steering Group helps guide and shape our work. It can make decisions about direction, priorities and next steps. However, we believe that meaningful change must be shaped with the wider community, not just by a small group.
For this reason, all major pieces of work — including new ideas, project proposals and areas of focus — will be shared with communities for feedback, discussion and reflection. This ensures that decisions are transparent, inclusive and grounded in the experiences of the people they affect.
Our programme raises a number of ethical questions — including humane harvesting, rewilding balance, accessibility, equity, and the use of insects or wild living species. These are explored in detail within our Land, Food and People section. The Steering Group ensures these questions are considered carefully and shared with communities before major decisions are made.

What the steering group will do
Guide Project Direction
Members help us think through new ideas, assess opportunities and identify risks. Their insight shapes how we design both land‑based and coastal regeneration projects.
Represent Community Voices
We want to hear from people with different experiences and perspectives. The Steering Group ensures these voices are central to decision‑making.
Support Ethical and Inclusive Decision‑Making
The group helps us explore the ethical questions raised in our regeneration work and ensures these are shared with communities for wider discussion before major decisions are made.
Strengthen Partnerships
Members help build relationships with local organisations, landowners, coastal groups, community organisations and practitioners.
Build Trust and Accountability
By involving the community from the beginning, we aim to create a culture of openness and shared ownership.

Getting Involved
If the work we’re doing interests you, you’re welcome to be part of it. You don’t need any particular background or experience — just an interest in the ideas and a willingness to take part in conversations as the work develops.
If you’d like to get involved, the easiest way to reach us is through the contact form on our homepage. We’ll get back to you with more information.
